This is the personal blog of Gail Overholt. Here I talk about life in general and things that interest me. Things like
- my family, particularly remembrances of my parents, part of the “Greatest Generation”
- blogging and web development, especially for baby boomers
- the saga of my decluttering
- television—I need some outlet to gush or gripe about my favorite shows
- my attempts to lose some weight and get back in shape
- work and retirement—including the military, the Navy, and the ever fun “sea stories”
- and maybe some grammar lessons, although I’m not so perfect in that area
(Speaking of “grammar,” as I recall, lists such as the above are not to be capitalized or punctuated. Right?)
Hi, Gail. I am trying to find the origin of a photo you posted on your previous blog (below), the photo of the group waving on the beach of Sullivan’s Island in 1960. I came across it recently by fluke. Initially, I was enjoying it for its retro look. Upon closer examination I had an OMG moment when I realized that I was in the photo in my two-year old body along with my mother, aunt and godmother. No one in our family had ever seen the photo. Do you know where it came from? I know the story line behind it. Thanks. Greg West gwest@clare.church

Hi Greg. How awesome that you’re in the photo! I looked through my files to see if I’d noted the origin of the photo, but couldn’t find anything. I think I found the photo through a Google image search for “goodbye” or “waving goodbye.” Give it a try, you might find something. Good luck!
